The Story

The whole game is set in Spira, which is a world under attack from Sin – a huge creature attempting to destroy the land and spread fear throughout. Spira is divided in to a number of different areas, all of which must be passed through at some point when working through the game.

The story’s main character is Tidus, who is a young blitzball player from Zanarkand. When the stadium is attacked he is knocked unconscious and taken to Spira by Sin – which is where he meets up with the story’s other main protagonists. After initially being attacked, Tidus is washed up on the shores of Besaid, where he meets the jovial Wakka. As they travel together, they meet new friends – as well as new enemies – who join them in attempting to defeat Sin and bring calm back to the once peaceful land.

Without giving anything away to those who still wish to play this game, the journey takes many wild turns, with the party battling both with monsters and their own feelings. The story has action, romance, sadness and adventure – in short, it has everything needed to create a great game! Then there is the Sphere Grid, which is probably the most innovative and enjoyable part of any game ever created on any platform…

World of Warcraft is actually the fourth in the series of Warcraft games, and is by far and away the most popular. The first installment of the Warcraft series was released in 1994, with World of Warcraft finally coming in 2001. Since then there have been three expansion packs released – The Burning Crusade (2007), Wrath of the Lich King (2008) and Cataclysm (2010). But what exactly is there to do in this immensely popular game?

The different aspects to World of Warcraft

In World of Warcraft, there are a huge amount of things for the player to do. Aside from the main quest, there are hundreds of different side missions and ways to build a character up.

One of the most enjoyable aspects to this game is the ability to teach a character a certain profession in order to help them along the way. The main ones are tailoring, mining and blacksmithing, although there are a number of secondary professions – such as fishing and cooking – that can be learned as well. Learning these happens when a player completes enough of the specific tasks associated with them.

Another great aspect is the ability to form guilds, which links a group of players together and enables the more experienced members to help the less experienced ones. This also means quests can be completed more easily and new friends can be made!

Tidus

Tidus is the main protagonist of the story and is a professional blitzball player from Zanarkand. He is taken to Spira by Sin and must battle his way through monsters and other bad guys in an attempt to find his way home. He is often naïve but also always brave, becoming the player’s main warrior as the game progresses.

Other party members

There are various other party members that the player control, but the three most vital to the story are Yuna, Wakka and Auron. Yuna is the daughter of High Summoner Braska and has powerful magical abilities, making her able to heal the other team members whilst fighting. Auron is the friend of Tidus’ father, who died in a previous battle with Sin. Unknown to Tidus, Auron has been watching over him for years, ensuring that Tidus is okay. Finally, Wakka is the funny man of the story – a blitzball player and captain of the Besaid Aurochs. Aside from this, he is highly skilled when fighting and becomes integral to the player.

Other than these three characters, there are a further three the player can use to fight with. These are Lulu, Kimahri and Rikku.

OGame explained

The basic premise of OGame is that the player takes control of five different planets, which are randomly assigned by the game when a new player signs up. These planets have a set amount of fields which the player is able to build on and therefore create new resources, weapons and buildings for their planets to use. By building up these planets and becoming more and more powerful, the player can then go on to conquer new areas and increase the amount of land that they own.

Space combat is an important aspect of OGame, but in this it differs from other games in the genre. Whilst other games will see the player guiding their ships in combat, ODesk has the player send the ships where they need to go and then hope that they fight well! This does create some randomness to battles but works surprisingly well! As well as attacking other player’s ships, it is also possible to raid their planet for resources, which will weaken them and strengthen the player at the same time.

Dead Frontier’s gameplay

Dead Frontier is set in a world that has already been hit by an apocalypse, where zombies are roaming freely throughout the cities and streets. The player takes control of one of the survivors, who must battle with the assistance of other players in order to survive and destroy the zombie invaders.

At the beginning of the game the player must choose which profession they are to specialize in – a common theme amongst online games! They are then able to build on their skills and purchase newer and better weapons as the game goes on. This is done through killing zombies and looting items that have been dropped. Weapons that can be purchased include machine guns and grenades, with the more one costs the more damage it will do! There are also various social features to the game, with many players making new friends through it. There is a great chat ability that players can use to speak to one another, as well as the ability to meet friends in certain places so as to fight together against the invading zombies.

How to play TribalWars

Once the player has control of their own village, they are able to visit different building within it in order to build other buildings, create weapons or collect troops. These troops can then be used to attack enemy villages or – more likely – defend the player’s from someone else’s attack!

In addition to acting alone, players can also create tribes with others, leading to much larger and better armed groups who can attack and defend far better. The sizes of these tribes can vary and really depends on the rules implemented in whatever world the player finds themselves playing in. Whatever the situation, however, getting in to a tribe is a very good decision for a player to make!

Players can also interact with each other very easily in this game, with an inbuilt chat window allowing them to talk about matters relating to either the game or anything else. For this reason it is a great way to enhance a group of friends and make powerful allies in the world that the player has been placed in!

Final Fantasy X’s different groups

Probably the most noticeable groups in the game come in the form of the various blitzball teams that the player takes on. Although they aren’t good guys or bad guys as such, it is necessary to defeat them in order to win some great prizes. From the strength of the Ronsos to the skill of the Luca Goers, there are many different skills needed to beat them all!

When it comes to groups that are helpful to the player, the main ones are the Crusaders and the Chocobo Knights, both of whom are attempting to fight the evil of Sin – with mixed results! Although the player never gets to control these groups, they are vital when it comes to obtaining both items and information.

There are various groups of summoners in the game – mainly Isaaru and Dona – who are attempting to defeat Sin throughout the game. Although never really affecting the player’s mission, they are a constant thorn in the side, popping up at inopportune moments to distract the player or cause them to have to fight.

Finally, there is the power of the Yevon Order, who are both helpful and a hindrance at the same time. The most significant member of their group is Lord Seymour, who is eventually killed by the player as he stands in the way of completing their final mission.

Although Dungeons and Dragons was released in 2006, the publishers have continued to release updates over the years, meaning that the game never gets old or out of date. The newest – and perhaps the best – is called Attack on Stormreach, which adds a number of new and exciting features to the game…

Attack on Stormreach

Attack on Stormreach was released in December 2010, is the eighth update for the rereleased Eberron Unlimited and adds a number of excellent parts to an already enthralling game. Probably most importantly it continues with the storyline from the previous update (Half Bloods), ensuring that players can continue an already well-loved path.

In addition to these new quests, there are also a couple of other excellent additions. Firstly, there is the inclusion of new armor kits for many different classes, meaning that whoever a player chooses to be, there is further customization available. Continuing on the theme of customization, there are also a number of enhancements that have been added in order to further add to the appeal of the Half-Elf characters – meaning that players will be seeing a lot more of them from now on!

The story

The story sees the player taking control of either a human or a Cylon space craft, which they then have to use to fight their way through the hordes of ships piloted by players from the other team.

The Cylons were originally created by the humans, but after years of servitude they evolved and rebelled against the humans. The game begins 40 years after a war that has left the human fleet decimated and the Cylons building on their success. The humans must make it from the outer reaches of the solar system back to planet earth before the Cylons get enough power to destroy them forever.

Within the game there are a number of different characters that the player will come in to contact with on both sides. For the humans the leader is Admiral Adama, who is in charge of the Battlestar Galactica itself, as well as the father of Lee Adama, one of the other main characters.

For the Cylons, the leader is One “Cavil”, who – although witty – is the ruthless leader of the Cylon hordes. Other important characters are Six and Eight, who are both adept at fulfilling their roles to devastating effect. In fact, it was Six that brought about one of the major turning points in the whole war through her seductive techniques…
